 Seventy miles of border fence will be built by the end of the year, but none of it in Texas, U.S. Border Patrol Chief David Aguilar told local officials on Monday.
“One 34-mile section will be built in Arizona in the Barry M. Goldwater range (a U.S. military artillery range in the southwest corner of that state),†he said.
“Several other chunks will be built in New Mexico, California and in other parts of Arizona. They’re seeing a combination of illegal incursions, and we will address these areas of vulnerability first.â€
The rest of the 370 miles of proposed fence, which includes 135 miles in Texas, is still in the design phase but won’t be built until the end of 2008, the nation’s top border patrol official said.

I interviewed Todd Bensman, who completed a six-month investigation of Middle Eastern illegal aliens crossing the southern border into Mexico. He traveled to Syria, Guatemala, and Mexico to trace the human pipeline of so-called “special interest aliens.”
ie how these tie together.
***update: the headline now more accurately reads: “Some US Muslims justify suicide attacks”…Newsbusters has more***
“Most U.S. Muslims reject suicide bombings,” AP reports.
Â
Why you need to keep borders secure.
“One in four younger U.S. Muslims say suicide bombings to defend their religion are acceptable at least in some circumstances…”
===============================================
While nearly 80 percent of U.S. Muslims say suicide bombings of civilians to defend Islam can not be justified, 13 percent say they can be, at least rarely.That sentiment is strongest among those younger than 30. Two percent of them say it can often be justified, 13 percent say sometimes and 11 percent say rarely.
“It is a hair-raising number,” said Radwan Masmoudi, president of the Washington-based Center for the Study of Islam and Democracy, which promotes the compatibility of Islam with democracy.
===============================================
Only 5 percent of U.S. Muslims expressed favorable views of the terrorist group al-Qaida, though about a fourth did not express an opinion.
