The rate of homicides committed with a firearm has increased 24% since 2002.
Posted by dinosaur under Big Government , Gun Controld’ya think it’s time to ban the dopey registry yet.
There were 200 homicides committed with a firearm in 2008, 12 more than in 2007. The rate of homicides committed with a firearm has increased 24% since 2002. ... The overall rate of homicides committed with a firearm gradually declined from the mid-1970s to 2002. Since then, this rate has generally been increasing. http://www.statcan.gc.ca/daily-quotidien/091028/tdq091028-eng.htm
So the rate was dropping they bring in the Registry and it went up, these socialists are great. Giving criminals the job security they need.
Well there is something you can do.
Private Member’s Bill — C-391 — that focuses solely on scrapping the long-gun registry. It should, therefore, be more acceptable to a borader range of MPs. The bill, which was seconded by Breitkreuz, is on the Order Paper and will be debated this Fall.
Give the CTF your support.
Oh and just so you know how misguided the legislation is,
Of the 200 firearm homicides in 2008, 121 or 61% were committed with a handgun, 34 with a rifle/shotgun and 17 with a sawed-off rifle/shotgun. Over the past 30 years, the use of handguns to commit homicide has generally been increasing, while the use of rifles or shotguns has generally declined.
